Shanti
Asiatic School celebrated Book Week from 13-18 August. It was very
colourful and interesting event which was held at the school campus. It
was a unique event and the whole assembly area was filled with books,
also the whole area was fully decorated with tri-colour flags and
inspirational posters to feel the freedom of joy and patriotism in each
and every child studying in the school as the theme of the book week
was “India ‘s Independence Day”.
Shanti
Asiatic School and Scholastic India had collaboratively organized this
event, the core was to encourage the children to love reading and
rediscover the wonderful world of books.
It was a
fantastic opportunity for children and staff member of the school to
celebrate our 66th year of freedom through literature, History and
different genre of books. The children were given the opportunity to
enjoy, share and spend time with the books kept as display.
Talking
about the benefit of the Book week Sandhya Uday, the Vice - Principal of
the School said, there are some important ingredients to this
Independence celebration: to encourage more reading habits among
students, browsing the latest books and knowing new authors and the
added value for the students to get familiar with some of the leading
publisher and award winning famous authors.
As the
part Book Week, many books of prominent Indian authors like Ruskin
Bond, R.K.Narayan, Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth, J.P.Narayan, S.C.Bose
were kept for the children to read and enjoy. Most of the Books were on
Indian Freedom fighters and on war of India’s Independence which was
kept as the main display for the students to observe read with feeling
of patriotism about the greatness of the Indian heroes and their
struggle to get freedom.
There
were also plenty of story books for all age children from around the
world which was one of highlights of this time’s book week.
Shanti
Asiatic School still believes that Books remain central to students'
learning, alongside digital media. Books can empower, inspire and make
