Padmashree Darshana Jhaveri @ SAS

SAS had a mesmerizing evening with, Manipuri dancer Padmashree Darshana Jhaveri and her team of artists on April 17,2011. The youngest of all the Jhaveri sisters ,to carry the legacy of Manipuri dance, she displayed her dance talent and versatility with delicate slow and graceful steps.

In the lecture cum demo Darshana ma’am depicted the various facial emotions and hand gestures. The Raslila which is the most beautiful form of Manipuri dance style was a sheer delight to watch. The elaborate costume and intricate makeup added much magnificence and splendor to the show.

The team of artists consisted of accomplished musicians, drummers and dancers from Manipur. Of special interest were the drummers from Assam who displayed the energetic Tandav style in dancing with vigour.

The students and parents had a good interactive session with Darshana Ma’am and Spic Macay co-ordinator Mrs Sushma Jacob. The audiences were spell bound not only by the graceful dance sequence but the enchanting ambience of the SAS plaza. Dance they say is the mother of all art. The artists were felicitated with floral greetings and mementoes .The programme was par-excellence and met with stupendous success.

  1. In the materialistic world of Engineers, Doctors, Cricketers (being in India), does one have the nerve to follow a passion like Dancing.

Like the dying plant species, the disappearing animals, is this also on the verge of extension..

  2. Indian classical music & dance is a means of inner purification and self realisation. By a first hand interaction with artists and art lovers, our students will certainly become ambassadors of universal love, peace and harmony.
