Global Warming is a Global Warning

Today’s younger generation is seriously worried about their future living conditions, and this was demonstrated effectively on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti by the students of Shanti Asiatic School.

This generation, in sync with Gandhian idealology for environment marched ahead with conviction and serious purpose to help improve their environment. And to spread their message effectively, they carried banners and shouted slogans - “Jal hai to kal hai…!”, “Global Warming is a Global Warning, etc.” This initiative was taken by the school’s ‘Prayas’ campaign, which is in tandem with this months theme for ‘Saving Planet Earth’. The students also performed a street play bringing to fore a debate on whether we treat our country like a dumping yard.

Gradually the play moves on larger issues including green house gases emission, conservation of natural resources, ozone layer depletion, converting cultivable lands into buildings and deforestation. Through songs and skits, the students sent across the message of protecting the earth. The rally started from the Helmet Cross Road and concluded at Keshav Bagh. Sizeable crowd gathered on either sides of the street to see a group of young students spreading message of environment conservation. According to school Principal, Mrs Anita Verma, the entire month of September was celebrated as an Environment Month at the School.
