The Electoral process at SAS replicates the Indian electoral process. The Investiture Ceremony that follows is an exercise in exaltation, envisioned to honour the child, the parent and the teacher. The mission is a great awareness of responsibility, service, honour, pride and privilege.

Shanti Asiatic School,Ahmedabad organized an oath taking ceremony for the recently elected team of school prefects on July 22,2012.The team members were brimming with confidence to shoulder the newly assigned duties. The team expressed its gratitude to the election committee for placing confidence in them. The objective of the event was to espouse the confidence, development of leadership qualities and sense of responsibility among the students. The school
has been putting earnest efforts to form the STUDENTS’ COUNCIL every year. This noble gesture was initiated this year also in the month of July, calling nominations for the various posts of students’ council and following the electoral process.


The function began with a prayer song. Depicting through a variety of cultural programmes the relevance of the Indian Philosophy, Saraswati Vandna was sung to seek the blessings of the Almighty. Group songs and shlokas were recited to seek the blessings of the invited parents,  guru and members of the management.
The school Head Girl Akanksha Chowdhay gave the welcome address. It was in a very befitting manner, the badges were pinned and sashes were decorated on the members. Coming to flag receiving ceremony, the Head  Boy,  Sports  Captain, and  House  Captains received school flag, sports flag and house flags respectively from the House Incharges. The team members also took a formal pledge to carry out the duties assigned to them with sincerity and efficiency. It was time to pay respect to the nation and abide by all the values held by the motherland. The Oath was administered by the Principal Mrs Anita Verma in a very solemn manner. 

 

Respecting parents is a value that is given much regard. Where as the mothers pinned the badge of honour, the fathers presented the good luck card, urging the budding leaders to understand their responsibility. It was time for the Council to seek blessings from their teachers and members of the Management.

The Director Mrs Nikita Chiripal blessed and congratulated the Students’Council and urged them to work with honesty and perform their duty well. She also said that one could perform well only if one was impartial.
While congratulating the newly elected members of the Students’ Council, Mrs Sandhya Uday, Vice Principal highlighted on the point that leadership is doing more than expected and it in a blend of responsibility, conduct and character.

This was followed by an inspiring speech by the chief guest Mrs Poonam Saxena, Principal Amrit Firdaus School. She insisted the need to be role models and take up responsibilities in an able manner. She further went on to say that it was important to have faith in oneself. To give back to the society was need of the hour. Mrs Saxena motivated the students with her words of wisdom. She emphasized on the point that it was difficult to change the surrounding but our path could be changed. Pyramid has a broad base, so to reach the top one has to be focused. 

 

Changing guards, the newly elected Head Girl Hema Joshi and the Head Boy Abhijeet Das assured one and all that they will rise to the occasion. The out going Head Boy Amresh Singh and Head Girl Akanksha Choudhary congratulated the newly elected Students’ Council and vowed to continue their constant support.

The grand finale came with the culmination of the song. We shall over come…..
